Social Scene
We offer a wide range of social activities for both our membership and their extended family. Our most regular event is on Thursday evening, after training, when we meet in the Recreation Club Bar for well earned food and drink, and an exchange of views ….not just about running!
Once a year, we hold an Awards Evening, Christmas Meal and entertaining Quiz night. Other less regular events include cinema trips, meals out, and weekend trips away. Apart from the opportunity to socialise these trips offer optional organised walking, cycling and running activities .
The social nature of the club can also be seen at our post competition tea, coffee and cake sessions, sometimes under the cover of our recognizable, often envied gazebo, but when that is not available it has to be a car boot cafe.
At the end of the year, we like to really let our hair down at our 4 mile Christmas Handicap Race. Tattenhall village is treated to an exhibition of runners in themed fancy dress, competing hard for the winner’s prestigious trophy. Attempts pre-race to influence the handicapper’s decision are common, but always ignored.
Cycling
There is a growing interest in cycling within the Club, that perfectly compliments our running actvities. Weekend rides are often organised informally, but we do compete in a variety of competitions, including local races such as Oulton Park and Bolesworth Duathlons, and longer distance sportives.
